Anxiety isn’t the problem. feeling unsafe to be yourself is.

Therapy for

Women & couples

Welcome

You’re Not Broken. You’re Awakening.

You don’t struggle in relationships because you’re “too sensitive” or not trying hard enough. You struggle because you’ve learned to stay connected by overgiving, overthinking, and overriding yourself.

You read the room. You manage emotions. You soften your needs.
And somewhere along the way, anxiety became the cost of staying close. This isn’t about better communication or doing more inner work. It’s about learning how to stay in relationship without leaving yourself.

When your nervous system feels safe, boundaries stop feeling cruel. Needs stop feeling dangerous, and connection no longer requires you to shrink.

This work is about reclaiming your place—in your relationships and in your life. When you create relational safety at the nervous system level, anxiety softens and authentic connection becomes possible.

I help women and couples stop repeating the same painful relationship cycles that keep them disconnected from themselves and others—so they can start relating with clarity, honesty, and boundaries and build relationships that feel safe and alive.

I specialize in helping women stay connected, without losing themselves.

hi, I’m Kate

I’m a therapist and coach for women who are ready to move beyond managing anxiety—and begin changing the relationship patterns that keep it alive.

The women I work with are thoughtful, high-achieving, and deeply attuned to others. They care deeply about their partners, families, clients, and communities. But beneath the competence and empathy is exhaustion—perfectionism, overthinking, self-doubt, and a quiet fear of getting it wrong in their relationships.

They long for more than symptom relief.
They want to feel steady in their bodies. Clear in their decisions. Secure in their relationships. Able to speak honestly without guilt, set boundaries without panic, and stay connected without losing themselves.

Many have spent their lives caring for others while never truly being cared for in the ways they needed. As a result, their nervous systems learned that love requires overgiving, shrinking, or managing other people’s emotions. Anxiety became the price of connection.

My work focuses on helping women build relational capacity from the inside out. That means strengthening their ability to tolerate conflict without collapsing, express needs without fawning, receive support without shame, and stay present when old attachment fears arise.

We gently tend to what shaped these patterns—often rooted in emotionally immature caregiving—and develop a new internal foundation built on boundaries, self-trust, and embodied safety.

Because healing isn’t just about understanding your past.
It’s about increasing your capacity to show up differently—in your relationships and with yourself.

Healing is increasing your capacity to stay present—with yourself and the people you love.”

Services

Ways We Can Work Together

Healing happens in relationship—whether that’s the relationship you have with yourself, or the one you share with a partner. I offer both individual and couples work, depending on where you feel the tension most clearly.

Individual Work

For women ready to change the patterns from the inside out.

Individual work is for women who notice anxiety showing up in their relationships, decisions, and daily lives—and want to build deeper internal steadiness.

Together, we focus on:

  • Understanding your attachment patterns and stress responses

  • Strengthening your capacity for boundaries and honest expression

  • Healing early relational wounds that shaped your nervous system

  • Learning to tolerate conflict, disappointment, and closeness without collapsing or overfunctioning

  • Rebuilding trust in your body, intuition, and needs

This work increases your relational capacity so you can show up differently—with partners, family, clients, and most importantly, yourself.

You don’t have to wait for someone else to change to begin shifting the dynamic. When you change how you relate, your relationships change too.

You’ve done enough surviving.

It’s time to relate from security, not fear.

$150 for individual 60-minute session

$175 for couples 60-minute session

Couples Work

For partners who want to feel secure, not stuck.

I love providing couples therapy for partners who care deeply about one another—but find themselves caught in painful cycles of pursuit, withdrawal, criticism, shutdown, or resentment.

In our work together, we:

  • Identify the negative cycle you’re caught in

  • Understand each partner’s attachment patterns and nervous system responses

  • Learn how to create emotional safety instead of escalating conflict

  • Practice repair, attunement, and secure bonding conversations

  • Build the capacity to stay connected during difficult moments

The goal isn’t perfect communication. It’s creating enough safety that honesty, vulnerability, and repair become possible.

Couples work helps you move from reacting to each other’s defenses… to understanding the fears underneath them.

Eco-Therapy Sessions

This therapy session takes place under the forest canopy of Pisgah National Forest, outside Brevard NC. While walking along the Davidson River, deeply immerse in nature’s beauty, reset your nervous system, awaken your senses and feel the immense benefits of this relaxing setting. Sessions are typically 1 hour, but longer nature intensives are available.

FAQ

  • The investment is $165 for a 60 minute therapy session. Interested in longer sessions feel free to email me. It has probably been costing you quite a bit to not do this work, to not change, and to not get expert help at this time. The value of getting help when you need it most can not only impact your life, but that of your family’s, marriage, career and your long term health. If this feels like a fork-in-the-road moment, imagine having support through this and what is on the other side of this? Let’s discover it together.

  • Yes. I have a handful of private coaching sessions slots available.
If you are interested in learning about the difference between therapy and coaching, and if this may be a good fit for you, please contact me for more information.

  • No. Insurance companies usually require a mental health diagnosis and will often determine the type of treatment and duration of services allowed for a specific diagnosis. I don’t want to be limited, nor want my clients to feel limited in these ways. In order to use insurance, a client’s claim reveals personal information that could affect their employment. I believe your health and wellness is your business.

Upon your request however, I can provide you with a special statement —referred to as a superbill— for you to submit for reimbursement to your insurance provider. I make no guarantees about the level of reimbursement you will receive from your insurance company.

I suggest you contact your insurance company, either online or via the member services number located on the back of your insurance card, to ask questions about out of network coverage as they pertain to your plan so that you can make an informed decision before beginning therapy.

  • If you cancel or reschedule a session within 24 hours there is no charge. However, if notice is not given within 24 hours you will be charged full price for the session.

Your appointment time is established and held especially for you. If you miss your scheduled appointment, and you do not cancel twenty-four hours in advance, you will be responsible for the full cost of that appointment.

You will not be allowed to book another appointment if you have an outstanding balance. Outstanding balances not paid within 30 days may be sent to collections.

  • Let’s talk about the investment you are making in your life. It has probably been costing you quite a bit to not do this work, to not change, and to not get expert help at this time. We can’t see our own blindspots, and we all have them. So being offered a different perspective on your situation and what you may not have considered can be very beneficial.
The value of getting help when you need it most can not only impact your life, but that of your family’s, marriage, career and your long term health. It takes courage to be vulnerable and invest in yourself like this, yet offers long-lasting benefits and support, giving you the tools you need to break detrimental patterns, face the challenge with tools you will learn, and feel better in your relationships and in your own body and mind. It’s your turn to take care of yourself in a way that will support you in the long run. If this feels like a fork-in-the-road moment, imagine having support through this and what is on the other side of this? Let’s discover it together.

  • Yes. I love the benefits of counseling without the commute and in the comfort of home!
It has certainly become more popular since the pandemic and enhances safety by decreasing risks of contact. Yet it also can allow you to feel a greater sense of support while doing this deeper work in your own home, save money on gas, and even have your favorite pet nearby. There is research that shows it to be just as effective as traditional therapy in the office. There is also increased anonymity and confidentiality, as well as being able to meet even while you’re on vacation or out of town.

  • To begin, choose your appointment time. You can either email me at katehannontherapy@gmail.com, call me at (#415-857-2501).
Before your session, you will receive an email with a link inviting you to join me for your session.

In the United States, online therapy is still relatively new as far as licensing and regulation goes. Each state has its own rules. I may provide therapy online to anyone within the state of North Carolina. As a coach however, I can see everyone else across all 50 states and internationally.

Please note, while counseling and coaching overlap, they are not the same thing. We will discuss your particular needs and see what would be the best fit for you.

Upon scheduling your first appointment, you will be sent some forms to complete before your session. These forms will provide me with some information about you, and give you an idea of what it is like to work with me.

    When you arrive we will:
    • Go over the forms you filled out
    • Talk about what brought you to counseling
    • Establish our goals
    • Discuss your history, as well as any contributing factors related to your therapy or coaching goals
    • If all goes well, we will then decide how often we will meet

For the following sessions your job would be to:
    • Bring the material you want to work on
    • Discuss anything that came up after the last time we met
    • Talk about current events happening in your life
    • Report progress

  • • By deepening your understanding of issues at hand
    • Coming up with clear strategies of how to deal with challenges you are facing
    • Identifying some things you can do outside of therapy to support your process

Keep in mind that therapy is rarely a quick fix, but rather a rich process that requires time and patience. The more actively you participate in this process, the greater the results.

The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you.

Don’t go back to sleep. You must ask for what you really want.

Don’t go back to sleep. People are going back and forth across the doorsill, where the two worlds touch.

The door is round and open. Don’t go back to sleep.
